Denholms Wood

Fished from the left bank with access via Carnsalloch car park and walking downstream. A strong run leaves the tail of the Stab, the river turns to the left and a long pool forms, the main current running down the wooded right hand bank. At its head the pool is deep, but the river shallows out into a long steady pool, excellent for all methods. It should be noted that Denholms is beautiful fly water. Denholms Wood is an excellent sea trout and salmon pool, about 200 yards in length. This pool fishes best at low to medium heights. At anything above 3ft on the gauge, the current becomes too strong to fish.  The pool fades into a glide which carries on for several hundred yards.  This glide is rarely fished for salmon or sea trout, but does hold a head of trout and grayling.

Denholms Wood sits between the green markers.
