River Levels

River Nith and Cairn Heights.

Determining the hight of the river prior to going fishing is advised. Our beats will fish well during all river states but being prepared prior to your visit will help you make the most of your trip.

The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) provide accurate and up to date river height levels. There are three measuring points on the Nith; Hall Bridge, Drumlanrig and at the Friars Carse hotel.

Friars Carse is the closest to our beats so should be seen as the most accurate for our waters. River Cairn is also measured at Fiddlers Ford but due to the Cairns more sedate nature a single figure is a good guide for the whole river.
