River Cairn

The Cairn is an unspoilt small spate river. DGAA have over 10 miles of mixed bank fishing. It holds a good head of natural Brown Trout and is also an excellent Salmon river, particularly after a flood.

Members of DGAA often work with the River Nith Trust. Here members are surveying the “6 Mile Corner” on the river Cairn to check and record the levels of aquatic life. These surveys provide an indication of the overall health of the river. The Cairn has proved to be abundant in insect life and an excellent environment for fish to thrive.
